When people think of Argentine cuisine, most people only think of beef. Although Argentina is famous for its outstanding quality of red meat, its national cuisine is actually a blend of indigenous and Mediterranean influences (mostly Spanish and Italian). Other regional foods are found here from the immigrants that settled here in the late 19th and early 20th century. The Argentine Experience
The Argentine Experience is an interactive dinner where guests can learn about Argentinian cuisine, taste the countries unique flavors, and cook delicious dishes. This restaurant is located in Palermo, one of the hippest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. The hosts take you through the national food & wine culture. While there you will enjoy a gourmet three-course meal, including the traditional steak paired with several other contrasting Argentine wines, with unlimited pours!
Empanadas
Similar to a closed-door restaurant experience, your host at The Argentine Experience will provide you with information about Argentine culture and teach you how to make one of the country´s most popular pastries empanadas. These pastries are filled with various ingredients, such as meat, cheese, ham, and vegetables.
Mate
During your Argentine Experience, make sure to try Argentina´s most traditional drink mate. Mate is an infusion based on yerba mate tea leaves, which are typically found in the North East region of Argentina and widely consumed in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and the south of Brazil. Each country has its own special spin on how they drink the tea, but the traditional Argentine way is drinking it hot from a gourd.
Alfajor Cookies
On your Argentine Experience, you will make your own alfajor cookies. Alfajores are shortbread cookies with dulce de leche in the middle. Dulce de leche is similar to caramel but more rich and flavorful. This delicious treat is also a traditional Argentina product, a confection based on milk and sugar. But let me warn you, you won’t be able to eat just one.
